The Finger-Postural Reflex (FPR, Di Spazio 2019)

As American neurophysiologist Stephen W. Porges, the extraordinary theorist of the polyvagal theory, explains, our sense of inner security can be enhanced by activating the resources of the ventrovagal circuitry of the autonomic nervous system. In other words, it means that I can increase inner security only by dialoguing with the autonomic nervous system, avoiding the trap of cortical narrative with its false beliefs. In life, the sense of security is greatly influenced by the environmental variables that determine our physiological state (I am calm, everything is fine, or I am worried, I am anxious, I am afraid, the world is collapsing on me, etc.). At this point an inescapable question arises: do I spend my existence as a leaf in the wind, or can I enhance inner security to be less affected by external events? Here the value of resilience emerges, which is usually understood as the individual's ability to impact adverse events more or less positively. But resilience coincides with inner security; I am resilient because I feel secure. A reliable index of inner security is postural analysis according to specific measures. The postural joystick technique is based on the use of two reflexes, the finger-postural r. (Di Spazio, 2019) and the oculomotor-postural r. (Di Spazio, 2020). Through intentional activation of these two reflexes, they are able to generate a controlled swing in a given postural direction (forward, backward, right lateral, left lateral, right anterior oblique, left anterior oblique, right posterior oblique, and left posterior oblique). Training these reflexes in psychosomatics enhances the sense of self-esteem and increases the ability to connect. Fonte immagine: archivio Di Spazio
